Assalmua'laikum........Bismillah Hir-Rahma Nir Rahim......
Hye there......we meet again in the same forum, but this time we will discuss about the new topic whereby its related to two different philosopher that are Secessionist and Adolf Loose.
First of all let me roughly explain to all of you about these two philosopher based on my understanding so that me, myself will know how much percentage i understood based on what Pn. Suzy has lectured to us before this.
firstly, let we take a look at Adolf Loose. based on my reading comprehension through my several classmate writings, i can conclude that Adolf Loose was the simple and practical man which we can see how he opposed towards the Secessionist ideology where there was concerned about the ornamentation on the product. differ to loos, he was concerned about the function of the product compare to aesthetic value....or ornamentation.....based on loos statement, ornamentation are the crime towards the particular product (design) whereby the originality of the certain product/ design was dissapeared because of the overwhelming ornamentation. the designer/ artist was too dependent on the ornamentation to make the design/ product to become an interesting masterpiece or artwork.....that was called crime by adolf loos.......for instant, women always depend on make up to make them beautiful but they didn't realize that the originality of their beautiful was dissapeared because of the overwhelming ornamentation.....simple word can said is adolf loos is the simple man. he always mentioned about simplicity in his artwork.....
seems that Adolf loos was an architecture, i will insert all the architecture design as below:
based on the picture we can conclude that all the design produced by Adolf loose was based from basic shape influences such as circle, square, oval, rectangle etc......the design was straight forward to the audience/ viewer....
compare to the secessionist ideology, i can said that they was very love toward ornamentation. they was concerned about the aesthetic value of the product/ design. one m ore things before i forget was the secessionist never rely on the history. their movement always looking forward to the present and future and no wonder why all their design/ artwork was full of ornamentation......
so, in order to relate with my specialization, i would like to choose adolf loos as my ideological references. as an industrial designer, i should put the practicality and the functionality of the particular product as a priority compare to aesthetic value....i'm not denied that to attract the user to buy our product must have aesthetic value but as a problem solver, we create the product is just not only to gain profit but we are the people who are responsible to reduce the burden faced by the society. nowadays, the user was matured enough to make a decision. they would rather to choose the useful product in term of it functionality, practicality, ergonomic factor and comfortable rather than choose the product because of its aesthetic value only.
